A couple of weeks ago I was invited by Cleves Luxury Rentals to attend my first charity pub quiz in Sofia! Finding a British style pub in Sofia is difficult enough so I never expected to find a pub quiz here!
The quiz is organised for The Cedar Foundation who are a wonderful charity that give disadvantaged people in Bulgaria a better quality of life. They work with adults and children with physical and intellectual difficulties and they improve their care by closing down the institutions they have been sent to and creating family style homes where they can enjoy life fully.
The quiz is made up of teams of up to six people and each team pays 100 leva to participate. Lots of companies donate prizes and the winning team receives something great (last time it was a 300 leva restaurant voucher donated by Cleves) and there’s also a raffle. All of the money raised goes to the charity.
Some of the great raffle prizes included:
J.J. Murphy’s donated meal vouchers and a bottle of Irish Whiskey (the quiz is also held here).
Debenhams donated gift vouchers.
Perfumes were donated from Bulgaria Mall.
Handmade items were made at the art therapy programme in “Siyanie”
The Company donated meal vouchers.
Chocolate gold bars and wine from Dundee Precious Metals
And a lovely gift basket from NeedUs
The night was so much fun and although our team weren’t winners (we were actually pretty bad at the quiz!) we all really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is really cool and the host is great, it’s guaranteed that you will laugh a lot! I had such a great time that I forgot to take photos but I will remember next time!
The quiz is held about twice a year and we will be sure to share with you when the next one is happening so you can join the fun! It really was fantastic to see so many people and businesses getting together to support such a worthy cause.
