The 17th November 2016 was Beaujolais Nouveau day, and it’s celebrated in Sofia, just as it is in many other cities around the world, with a very stylish party.
Beaujolais nouveau is a red wine which is produced in the Beaujolais region of France. Each year, on the third Thursday in November, there is a celebration of the arrival of the first Beaujolais nouveau wine.
This year the event was held at NDK in Sofia. Hundreds of people were there to celebrate the festival and try some of the 2016 Beaujolais nouveau wine.
As a wine lover, this was a great event for me to attend. Usually my wine preference is Bulgarian or Spanish Red or Italian white, I hadn’t tried the Beaujolais nouveau French wine before so I was looking forward to the experience.
The evening began with a champagne reception where a delicious selection of cheeses from President were being served. At 8pm there was a speech and the first bottle of Beaujolais nouveau wine was opened. From that point on, the food, wine and conversation was flowing!
The Beaujolais Nouveau event in Sofia has a number of sponsors who all help to make it possible. It was a great evening and I look forward to next year. In the meantime, I am preparing myself for some more wine tasting as the DiVino taste event is being held at NDK this weekend, from 18th-20th November 2016!
