In the centre of Sofia you will find the National Museum of Natural History. This is not to be confused with the National Historical Museum which can be found in the Boyana area.
The National Museum of Natural History is the oldest museum in Bulgaria and is the only museum which is involved in the preservation of scientific collections. There are four floors in the museum, each displaying various minerals, animals, insects and plants.
We spent around an hour in the museum and it was definitely worth a visit. It’s not the fanciest museum and it looks like it could use some modernisation but it was very interesting. I think it would be a great place to take children who have an interest in all kinds of animals.
The entrance fee was just 4 leva for adults and 2 leva for students and children. The museum is open daily from 10am-6pm.
