Stara Zagora is the city of linden trees, right angle streets and beautiful women!
I’ve always looked forward to visiting Stara Zagora since I was a little girl. Not only because half of my family and relatives live there, but also because of the strange atmosphere. Strange in a good way!
When I was a little girl, the city was different from what it is now but this is normal of course. Today it’s a very modern place which offers all the things that us trendy people need. For those of you who are addicted to malls, just like me, Stara Zagora has two of them. You can find your favourite shops there, nice restaurants, entertainment and movie theaters.
Stara Zagora is also famous for its mineral water and is a popular destination for those in Bulgaria who need to rest and relax! There are a lot of nice spa hotels you can stay in here. There are also great places for entertainment – clubs, piano bars, discos and so on.
For those of you who love beer (not me!) – one of the biggest malt houses is in Stara Zagora and “Zagorka” is one of the most popular beers in Bulgaria. There is also a beautiful park, called “Ayazmoto”, which takes you to the zoo, which happens to be the biggest one in Bulgaria.
An interesting fact about the city is that Vasil Levski and Rayna Popgeorgieva have both studied there. Many famous poets, actors and artists were born there as well. What can I say, lots of great people were born in Stara Zagora (and I am not talking about myself only!) ?
You should definitely visit the Antique theatre, the Roman remains and the opera, which is the biggest on the Balkan peninsula. We promise to tell you more about each one of them soon.
One of the things the city is famous for is the linden trees. And indeed, when they are blooming, the whole city smells so amazing and… it’s romantic…somehow.
And yes, last but not least, this is the city with the most beautiful girls in Bulgaria. It is hard even for me not to turn my head after every girl when I am taking my walk downtown! The girls are gorgeous, well-dressed and basically: a view worth seeing.
The other day I visited my favourite city again. Unfortunately I had only few hours there and I had to leave, promising myself I will be back in spring, so I can enjoy it in it’s absolute beauty!
