Welcome to the special Love edition of Eat Stay Love Bulgaria’s newsletter!

This month we’d like to share with you some ideas for spending Valentine’s Day in Bulgaria! Whether you want to spend the 14th February doing something romantic or doing something fun we’ll give you some tips!

Did you know that the 14th February marks the celebration of another patron saint in Bulgaria? Saint Trifon Zarezan, the patron saint of vine growing and wine producing. If you don’t feel like celebrating love then you can celebrate wine instead! Read the full blog post here!

Want to escape all this talk of love and romance?

Maybe all this talk of love and romance is not for you, and if that’s the case we’ve got a great suggestion for escaping all the Valentine’s Day madness. Skiing!Why not head to Mount Vitosha and spend a day on the slopes. We recommend you go early morning, before 9am as this way you can drive to the top of the mountain and park your car next to the ski schools. If you go later you will need to park further down the mountain and walk the rest of the way up as it gets very busy! You can rent the equipment (skis, boots and poles) for 20 leva per day and a half day ski pass is just 21 leva. There’s a small slope for learners and red and black runs for more experienced skiers. You can also hire an instructor from any of the ski schools there, they offer both private or group classes. After skiing, you can enjoy lunch up at the top or you can drive down the mountain and pop into one of the many little restaurants on the way back. We suggest you have Shkembe Chorba (Tripe Soup) with lots of garlic and chilli flakes, oh and a beer of course! Nothing romantic about that at all!
